The Border History Museum in the Old Gaol, and the Border Library in the Moothall are temporarily closed. They will re-open in early summer 2005, following renovation and development. The Old Gaol, dating from the 14th century, is the oldest purpose-built prison in England, and will re-open as a fully accessible, modern museum with new hands-on displays and a vivid 'reiver raid' film.
